Candie had pulled as far up my driveway as she could. The rain was coming down in a steady downpour. I leaned over and gave her a hug then let myself out of her car. I'd have to make a mad dash for my front door. After taking care of Porkchop, I'd put some water in the microwave for my hot chocolate dreams.

I waved at Candie as she pulled away from the curb. "Drive carefully," I shouted after her.

She tooted her horn and returned my wave.

I tromped up my front steps. I opened my front door and was surprised when Porkchop didn't greet me. Concern raced through my body. I dropped my purse on the floor of my entryway. I didn't bother to shed my rain-soaked shoes. Rain puddles followed me as I walked into my living room. "Porkchop, where are you? Mommy is home."

My house was a small rancher, so there weren't many places he could hide. I heard a faint whining coming from behind the bathroom door in the hallway leading to the bedrooms. I raced down the hall and flung open the bathroom door. A trembling Porkchop jumped up to greet me.

"Porkchop, how did you get shut in here?" I cradled his long body in my arms. My eyes scanned the room and came to rest on the mirror over the sink. There was my answer.
